Terms and Conditions
What you need to know about purchasing books from us
Condition
The Scorpion Press books are new and have not been used. The second-hand first editions we stock are in collectible condition and standard descriptions are used. For older books – over say 40 – 50 years old – the standard expected is less than fairly recent issues – and still still less for those published 80 or more years ago. Condition of collectibles is reflected in the price.
Payments
We are a mail order business and process payments by either cheque, Visa Mastercard and debit cards are accepted through the Realex payment gateway, and PayPal is also accepted. Some customers, including regular customers provide the card details by telephone or new expiry dates etc. by e-mail.
Shipping
UK orders are despatched within a few days of receipt of payment. Shipping is charged at a flat rate per order. We don’t cut corners with packaging: each book is sent out with sufficient protection to ensure it reaches you dry and undamaged. Overseas orders are usually sent air mail economy via our shipper at Heathrow airport and we need sufficient orders or several large ones to make the next consignment. A consignment is about every three weeks.
We have insurance that covers safe delivery. We take full responsibility for the book until it is safely in your hands. If the book is not as described by us, let us know immediately. You will then be able to return it for a full refund including your postage costs. Additionally, if you decide you just don’t want the book, but there is nothing wrong with it, tell us straight away. If a return is agreed, it will be at your own expense but we will refund the full purchase price provided we get the book back in the same condition as when it left us.
