2014 Edgars – 2 out of 6 are Scorpion books

How The Light Gets In

How The Light Gets In by Louise Penny in the Scorpion binding, one of 50 numbered and signed.

The final short list of six mystery novels for the 2014 Edgars has been announced.  The winner will receive the Edgar for best novel on 1st May at a banquet at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, New York City.

What a surprise that the six has not one but two Scorpion Press titles by non-American writers.  Canadian Louise Penny makes the short list with How The Light Gets In.  This was published by us in September 2013 and quickly sold out.  The other shortlisted Scorpion title is Ian Rankin’s Standing on Another Man’s Grave, issued by us as far back as 2012.  This was the return of Rebus novel after a gap of five years. Both books have an excellent chance of receiving the honour.

Who is your favourite Louise Penny or Ian Rankin?   Ian received the Edgar honour for best novel in 2004 for Resurrection Man.   So may it be Louise’s turn.  Certainly, our readers liked it ever so much.
