The début thriller that introduced Charlie Fox, an interesting amateur detective with a slightly shady and emotionally damaged background, and no fixed occupation. In Killer Instinct, her first outing, she is a teacher of self defence to women, but she appears in other situations and occupations in each novel. Zoë Sharp was a freelance photojournalist before becoming a writer and it seems that she has imbued Charlie with a free spirit. Another appeal of the series is the various of social groups, particularly youth culture that is explored, and Charlie is a leather-clad biker.

Nice first book for a collector. Zoë Sharp also has a story in the signed limited edition Original Sins, the first CWA collection issued as a special collectors edition.
